Aidan Larkin is Appointed as Board Advisor to the New North West Fraud Forum
Updated: Feb 24
Today marks the launch of a new forum aimed at tackling fraudulent activity in the North West of the UK. The North West Fraud Forum (NWFF) will bring together a distinguished group of anti-fraud experts from across the public and private sectors to help generate a more collaborative approach to the fight against financial crime. As the only forum of its kind in the North West region, the NWFF will provide a unique platform for its members to discuss the most pressing issues, trends and challenges facing the industry. They aim to promote collaboration between its member organisations by encouraging them to share their collective knowledge, experience and best practices for fighting fraud and cybercrime. While a lot of the forum’s work will be done through a dedicated members-only website portal, throughout the year the NWFF will be hosting a range of events to give its members the opportunity to learn from each other, provide updates on their work and network with other financial crime prevention specialists. This calendar of events will culminate in the annual conference on Thursday 10th November. The NWFF will be overseen by a board of industry professionals, each with their own specific area of knowledge and expertise. These board members will be responsible for driving the overall strategy and ensuring that the forum meets the needs of its many members. This board will be chaired by Claire Graham, a partner at leading company law firm TLT LLP. Other members of the board include leading professionals from:
North West Regional Organised Crime Unit
Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)
NAFN Data and Intelligence Services
NHS Counter Fraud Authority
The Insolvency Service
The Government Internal Audit Agency
Trading Standards
UK Finance
TLT Solicitors
Asset Reality
Eversheds Sutherland
Grant Thornton
Dains
Horwich Farrelly
Santander
Barclays
Our co-founder & CEO Aidan Larkin is delighted to have been appointed as a board advisor to this fantastic new forum: “We're very proud to be supporting the relaunch of the North West Fraud Forum and other important initiatives of this kind across the UK and Ireland. These types of entities are highlighting the power of real and lasting collaboration between the private and public sectors and will only bring about better results for everyone involved, from the victims themselves to the creditors and governments alike.” Detective Inspector Shifa Chowdhury Jones, of the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit and the NWFF’s Honorary President added: “Fraud is the biggest crime type in this country, equating from 30 – 40% of all crime. Fraud reaches more people than any other crime type and is also believed to be hugely underreported. Fraud reports are projected to increase by 25% by 2025 so it’s more important than ever for organisations to better equip themselves to fight fraud and this is something the NWFF is committed to supporting.” If you would like to share your expertise and become a member of the North West Fraud Forum, you can join us for the launch event at 9am on Thursday 29th September where we’ll be discussing the ins and outs of cybercrime and the dark web.
