Asset Reality Delivers Crypto Training in The Hague for the United Nations
Last month, our Co-Founder & CEO, Aidan Larkin was invited to provide crypto training at the Dutch Police Headquarters in The Hague for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). For three days, international subject matter experts in law enforcement, prosecution and asset recovery came together to discuss crypto assets, current best practices and the improvement of their tracing, seizure and confiscation methods following several requests from asset recovery practitioners.
These experts came from the EU Eastern Partnership countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as from Libya, to better understand the dynamics of complex virtual assets like cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Aidan was asked to provide specific training on the storage, management and recovery of stolen crypto assets thanks to his outstanding expertise in the field of cryptocurrencies, virtual assets and the modalities for their seizure and confiscation. He was honoured to recieve the prestigious invitation: “It was a privilege to deliver Asset Reality’s crypto training as a part of a UNICRI study visit to Politie Nederland and Europol and it was great to reconnect with my friends Jan Knobbe and Frederic P. in real life again. Amongst the global leaders in Asset Management, the Dutch legislation wipes out needless loss of value by selling depreciating assets like vehicles within months - unlike years witnessed in many countries. They don’t wait about with crypto either, converting the volatile asset usually within months of seizure. They’re the definition of a country that has supported and invested in its asset recovery and asset management system.”

The UNICRI aims to assist the international financial crime prevention community in its fight against illicit financial flows and their associated criminal activity. They focus on the formulation and implementation of crime prevention and criminal justice policies worldwide to help improve the mechanisms for tracing, seizing and confiscating assets linked to high-level corruption and organised crime.
