New Financial Crime Consultant Appointed

We are delighted to announce that Stuart Griffiths will be joining the Asset Reality team as a Financial Crime Consultant.

Stuart has nearly 4 decades of operational experience in law enforcement in both the UK and overseas. He's previously worked with HM Customs and Excise, Mozambican Customs Service, HM Revenue & Customs, Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and the National Crime Agency (NCA).

Stuart is also fluent in Spanish, having been evaluated at C1 by Instituto Cervantes, the premier Spanish language evaluators internationally. Thanks to this fluency, Stuart was seconded to the UK's Conflict, Stability and Security Fund and was sent to Latin America to work in Peru, Colombia and Panama as a financial crime advisor and a diplomat.

He has an extensive background in financial and organised crime investigation, asset recovery and confiscation, and capacity building/training which has helped him to design and develop training for anti-money laundering, asset recovery, anti-corruption investigations and intelligence development in various countries across Latin America, Africa and Europe including North Macedonia, Hungary, Mozambique, Ukraine, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica.

Thanks to his language skills and previous work in Peru, Albania and North Macedonia, Stuart will be focusing on our work with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The project will review the current asset recovery practices of these countries to provide recommendations for effective structural and strategic changes that will improve their asset management.

When asked about his new appointment, Stuart had this to say:

“Every time I read a newspaper story about a court case involving organised crime, one theme is constant in the reader’s comments section: 'What about their assets?'. The public gets it - 'Crime doesn't pay' is just a glib slogan unless something is done about the wealth generated.”

Asset Reality’s Co-Founder & CEO, Aidan Larkin, added:

“As we continue to develop the necessary infrastructure to help businesses in the crypto ecosystem, having experts with such extensive experience like Stuart on board is essential. Our high calibre international team will continue to grow and help us make crypto safer for everyone. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team!”
